Iowa Lawmaker Isn’t Sorry For Flipping the Bird

No matter what side of the political aisle you fall on, no one seems like they'll ever be happy. One Iowa lawmaker expressed his frustration in a controversial way and he doesn't plan on apologizing for it anytime soon.

State Representative Bobby Kauffman of Wilton, Iowa is under fire for a message he made to those on the other end of the political spectrum. During a rally at the Iowa Statehouse earlier this month, Representative Kauffman (who is a Republican) directly addressed the opposite side of the aisle.

"When it comes to these gun-grabbing, freedom-hating, over-regulating, civil liberty violating tyrants; here's my message..." AND PROCEEDS TO JUST THROW UP A DOUBLE BIRDIE.

The politician then thanks the crowd and walks right off the stage to a standing ovation.

Kaufmann's action stirred up national attention and quite a few comments from major players in Iowa politics and the Republican party.

Bob Vander Plaats, a major figure in Iowa Conservative politics and National Co-Chair for Ted Cruz for President in 2016, quickly criticized the State Rep's actions on social media.

He said very simply, "This is not leadership. And, it's no way to win a debate."

Kaufmann responded to Vander Plaats statement with one of his own on social media,

"Very interesting coming from you Bob… I've never seen you send out an email or make a statement on public policy without asking for a donation. I suppose that is your definition of “leadership.”

In an interview with Iowa News Now, the Iowa politician clarified that this gesture wasn't aimed at any of his Democratic colleagues in the Iowa legislature, but rather towards,

"The current party and power in Washington D.C."
