If you want to keep up to date with the latest information on when you can receive your Covid-19 vaccination, Black Hawk county residents can now sign-up to receive an email or text notification to keep you informed every step of the way.

The Black Hawk County Health Department is working with the Iowa Department Of Health in the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine as the limited supply becomes available by phase. According to their website, Phase 1A, which includes health care personnel and residents of long term care facilities, is nearing completion. In fact, 100% of Iowa's skilled nursing and assisted living facilities having administered their first dose and more than 50% having administered their second dose.

Next up, is Phase 1B which includes people 65 years and over, First Responders, PK-12 school staff, early childhood education, childcare workers, frontline essential workers in food, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors and more listed here. Phase 1C, is for the general public and they expect information about that in the coming days or weeks.

Black Hawk county residents can subscribe for updates via email or text message clicking here. There is a separate form for employers to fill out click here if they're interested in getting the COVID-19 vaccine for their employees.

According to the Black Hawk Health Department website nearly 3,400 residents have completed the vaccine series. There also comes news today that Iowa public health officials have selected Microsoft to create an online vaccination scheduling system. This will hopefully streamline the system and speed up things. Right now, the state ranks near the bottom (47th) nationally in doses administered.
