Winning Gold Might Not Be This Iowa Gymnast’s Biggest Accomplishment

Shawn Johnson East is a name extremely familiar to the state of Iowa and to many people around the world. She is a former gymnast in the 2008 Olympics. She represented the United States and even took home a gold medal in the balance beam portion. She was also a silver medalist in the all-around and floor exercises.

Shawn currently resides in Nashville with her husband Andrew East. Andrew is a former professional football player and he most recently played for the Washington Redskins as a long snapper.

These days, you can find Shawn and her husband taking care of their two children and growing their incredible status on social media. Whether it's on Youtube, Instagram, or TikTok, Shawn has done an incredible job of growing her following. She currently has 3.9 million followers on Instagram alone.

Becoming an Olympian would likely be just about anyone's greatest accomplishment. Other than raising her family, it would be pretty tough for Shawn to accomplish something better. Not only is becoming an Olympian an all-time achievement you can add winning a gold medal to the equation, and Shawn has accomplished the highest of highs during her athletic career.

Is it possible her biggest accomplishment has nothing to do with her talent in gymnastics? Her husband Andrew recently posted on social media that he has just discovered Shawn was in Taylor Swift's intro for her Fearless Tour.

Obviously, her husband is just having a little bit of fun with this video, but the fact that this Iowa gymnast, at one point, appeared in an intro with one of the biggest music stars in the world, is pretty incredible to think about.

There are plenty of people who win gold medals in the Olympics every 4 years, how many people appear in an intro to a Taylor Swift Fearless tour? Not many. As a matter of fact, there are only 2. Taylor Swift and Iowa's very own Shawn Johnson.
