Shawn Johnson has been a hero to many for a long time.

The Des Moines, Iowa native and gymnast competed in her first Olympics and was put on the world stage when she was just 16 years old, winning the gold medal in the balance beam. She took silver in the team, all-around, and floor exercise.

Now, she's a hero for a totally new reason.

Johnson, (now Johnson East after she married former NFL player Andrew East), took notice of the nationwide baby formula shortage and stepped up, along with her husband.

The duo has launched a website that will help parents struggling to find baby formula. They were inspired after searching for formula for their own child, Jett, and were unable to find any.

In an Instagram post, Johnson East detailed the situation:

So last week I was trying to refill Jett’s formula, and I wasn’t able to find it anywhere. A friend of a friend actually connected me to her friend in Pittsburgh, who was able to find and ship it to me.

Her husband goes on to explain the site they created, BabyFormulaExchange.com:

(It's a place) to match and create a place for those people who have extra formula to meet those people who need formula.

The site is free for anyone to use, and it allows parents to ask for the specific type of formula they need or for those who have some they and aren't or won't be using.

Those who have unexpired, unopened packages of formula can fill out a form on the site and find a match.
