New Waterloo Restaurant Shuts Down Four Months After Grand Opening

A Waterloo restaurant that opened this past summer is now closed.

Unfortunately, over the past few months we've seen businesses closing up their doors all across the state.

A recently opened eatery in Waterloo appears to be another one of the casualties of this pattern.

Elena's Steakhouse & Bar opened for business on Monday, July 29th of this year. Now, just under four months after its grand opening, this eatery located at 126 E Ridgeway Ave in Waterloo appears to be closed.

Elena's Steakhouse & Bar Is Closed?

I first caught wind of this when I was scrolling through Facebook and saw an interesting post from Backes Commercial Auctioneers. 

Backes is a commercial auction marketing and asset advisory specialists group based out of Raymond. The company made a Facebook post on November 15th sharing news of an online auction, where people could bid on 297 pieces of equipment, furniture, kitchen utensils, service trays, etc.

All of these items are from Elena's Steakhouse in Waterloo.

This auction is set to conclude at 10:00 AM on November 21st. Check out some of the items here.

Maybe they are just doing a major makeover?

Well, in the beforementioned Facebook post, the team at Backes said, "Elena's Steakhouse & Bar in Waterloo, Iowa has just closed."

I went to take a look at the business's website to see if they had updated any information about this or had a closing date.

The first thing that popped up was a notification that the website had expired.

I even tried to scan the restaurant's social media pages to see if there was anything that the restaurant owners posted regarding the closure.

The last post on the steakhouse's Instagram page was also its first. There hasn't been a new post on this platform since BEFORE Elena's opened.
