A Waterloo man was injured in a two-vehicle accident near Evansdale Friday afternoon.

According to Black Hawk County sheriff's officials, 56-year-old Terry Smith suffered non-life threatening injuries when his vehicle broadsided a sport utility vehicle that turned into his path. Smith was taken by ambulance to a Waterloo hospital for treatment.

Officials reponded to the crash just after 1:30 PM at the intersection of Dubuque Road (old U.S. Highway 20) and North Evans Road.

An accident report shows the vehicles were going in opposite directions on Dubuque Road. Sheriff's officials said the westbound SUV failed to yield while turning left onto Evans Road. Smith's KIA then slammed into the side of the SUV.

Authorities identified the SUV's driver as 49-year-old Lisa Moore of Waterloo. She was cited for failure to yield while making a turn.

Evansdale Fire Rescue assisted Black Hawk County sheriff's deputies at the scene.
