There are quite a number of remarkable spots all over the state. From natural wonders to man-made creations, the Hawkeye State has unique locations that are straight out of travel magazines.

We all know the big ones; like the state's largest frying pan and even the Field of Dreams in Dyersville.

Iowa is also the home of one of the most crooked roads in the entire world. Located in a town called Burlington Snake Alley consists of 275 feet of curves all along the road and five half-curve turns and two-quarter turns.

It was constructed in 1894 to help connect the residential district at the very top to the commercial district, according to TripAdvisor.

Snake Alley in Burlington, IA

Burlington, IA is just one hundred and fifty miles away from Waterloo and a hundred miles away from Cedar Rapids is one of the most see attractions for tourists. Ripley's Believe It or Not! voted Snake Alley as the #1 Odd Spot in America.

Another strange site and location is Sabula, Iowa. Located in Jackson County, Sabula is home to the state's only "island city," according to Travel Iowa.

Island City Harbor is located right along the Mississippi River, and is nestled right in the driftless area of the state. Fishing, boating, and other nautical activities are all available to those who come to town.

If you are looking to make Sabula your next vacation destination, then you can check out just a few of the incredible rental properties here.
