Flooding continues in some areas of northeast Iowa.

Buchanan County Emergency Management officials were reporting Thursday morning that many fields, culverts and roadways in remained under water. Flooding forced the closure of four additional roads.

In Clayton County, the Turkey River remains high. Flood warnings remain in effect for the river at Garber and Elkader. Minor flooding is expected at both locations.

An extended period without any precipitation should help the region's rivers and streams. Plenty of sunshine is in the forecast for the next several days.

Below is the list of flood warnings that remain in effect, according to the National Weather Service:

TURKEY RIVER

At Garber:
* until Friday evening, or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 9:15 AM Thursday, the stage was 19.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: Continue to fall and drop below flood stage by Friday morning.
* Impact...At 19.0 feet, County Road X3C at the south end of Garber becomes inundated.

At Elkader:
* until late Friday night, or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 9:45 AM Thursday, the stage was 14.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: Continue to fall and drop below flood stage by Friday morning.
* Impact...At 12.0 feet, minor flooding occurs in areas near the river.

With large areas saturated from recent the rainfall, the following counties remain under a flood warning:

BUCHANAN COUNTY

* Until 1030 AM Friday.
* At 948 AM Thursday, emergency management reported continued flooding of area fields, culverts and roadways. An additional four roads have been closed this morning due to flooding. Heed all road closures. Emergency management also reported that
some of the water issues were beginning to move south through the county as the water attempts to move to area creeks and streams and eventually the Mississippi River. More roads may be closed as well.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include: Independence, Jesup, Fairbank, Winthrop, Hazleton, Quasqueton, Brandon, Rowley, Aurora, Stanley, Lime Creek County Park, Wapsipinicon Golf Course, Fontana County Park, Littleton, Buchanan County Fairgrounds, Otterville, Independence Airport, Jakway Park and Fontana Park.

BENTON COUNTY AND LINN COUNTY

* UNTIL 215 PM Thursday.
* As of Wednesday night, emergency management reported flooding in many rural areas due to the 2 to 4 inches of rain that fell the past few days. Be sure to heed road closures and do not attempt to drive through flood waters. No additional rain is expected Thursday.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include: Cedar Rapids, Vinton, Marion, Hiawatha, Robins, Belle Plaine, Center Point, Fairfax, Atkins, Walford, Urbana, Dysart, Central City, Springville, Palo, Shellsburg, Newhall, Walker, Blairstown and Van Horne.
