We have reached one of the most confusing times of the year in Iowa!

We experience something like this every year. It's not new, but it does hit you out of nowhere if you're not paying attention. Some years, it only lasts a few weeks, and others, it might last a few months.

I'm not talking about anything to do with sports or any type of election, which have both taken over my social media pages. I'm also not talking about anything to do with farmers who are working hard on their harvests during this time of the year.

I'm talking about the time of the year when...you can't plan at all for what you're going to wear on any given day! I've seen a couple of posts like these from the Iowa Chill's social media team and it hit me yesterday just how true these are. Every day for the past week, when I jump in my car in the mornings, I am blasting the heat on my way to work.

I leave the house with some kind of hoodie or light jacket and I feel pretty comfortable.

When I leave work in the early afternoon...it's like mother nature and the weather does a complete 180. I walk out of our office door and I'm ripping my hoodie off, rolling every car window down, and I'm blasting the AC as I head home from work. With how dry it has been in Iowa for the past 2 months, I feel like I'm all of a sudden in the Sahara desert and all I want is a glass of water.

This isn't me in this video...but it's me every October in Iowa!

I might die on this hill alone but I would argue that fall is the best season of the year. I'm the kind of person who's body runs hot. I feel like I'm always warm and when we get to that point in the year where the temperature is constantly in the 50s, I'm in my happy place.

Good luck as we navigate through this interesting time of the year. Leaving the house bundled up and removing every article of clothing we have on when we head home from work!

This time of the year kind of reminds me of someone trying to grow their hair out. There's an awkward stage for a few weeks as you wait for your hair to fill in and get passed that goofy middle length. Once we get past this awkward middle stage...we're off to the races for the best time of the year!

Some of these places are located on private property. If you are interested in adding some of these spooky spots to your haunted travel bucket list, make sure to be mindful of the residents who still reside here...may they be living or dead.
