Culprit Found in Cedar Falls Mascot Statue Theft
In early May, a plethora of statues of the University of Northern Iowa's beloved mascot, TC (the cat) were placed all throughout the Cedar Valley as a community/university project.
These life-sized TC mascot statues were set up at twenty-seven different sponsor locations including SCHEELS, Veridian Credit Union, Urban Pie, Hansen's Dairy, the Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens, as well as Structure Real Estate.
Each statue was individually painted and designed by an artist as a part of the Panthers on Parade project. They are to remain out in the community until October.
However, now the Cedar Valley is short one TC thanks to a vandal.
Last week, officials from one of the locations hosting a TC statue shared a disappointing video on social media.
Structure Real Estate's TC statue (Agent TC) was vandalized late one evening. The video shows a man picking up the cat and smashing it on the ground.
The company asked for the public's help to figure out who was behind the "catnapping."
Luckily, after several days, Structure Real Estate received an anonymous tip that identified the vandal.
"Thanks everyone for sharing this so quickly!" officials from the insurance company said on Facebook.

Officials at Structure Real Estate have not released the name of the individual responsible for vandalizing the statue.
