University of Northern Iowa’s Maya McDermott Is Dominating College Hoops

Even though we're only month into the college hoops season, I can already tell that this is going to be an unforgettable year.

It's fair to say that a lot more eyes will be on women's college basketball this time around.

The 2023-2024 season became one of the most watched seasons in recent history. According to a report from Nielsen, viewership for the 2024 women's championship matchup between Iowa and South Carolina, was up over 90% compared to the year prior.

Then if you take it back to 2022 that difference is even higher!

The viewership for that championship game was up 288% compared with the 2022 audience.

A lot of eyes are now on the 5' 6" senior from Johnston, Iowa, Maya McDermott.

Number 0 has been averaging  24.1 points per game with a field goal percentage of 50.7%. This places her as one of the top five scoring leaders in all of NCAA women's basketball.

In the matchup against ISU, McDermott dropped 37 points against the Cyclones! Not too shabby.

She currently sits at the #4 spot on the NCAA women's offensive leaders board, right behind Hannah Hidalgo from North Dakota and Juju Watkins of USC.

If you want to see McDermott and the rest of the Panthers in action, there are some big games you could check out in the coming weeks and months.
