Reba McEntire Shares More Details About Her New TV Show
Reba McEntire is giving fans a few new details about her new ABC television show -- including its name! In a new interview, McEntire shared that the TV drama will be titled Red Blooded -- and it's already earning good reviews.
In a recent interview with Cody Alan, McEntire said that her “Southern Gothic soap opera” has shot its pilot episode, and is getting limited (read: good!) feedback from its potential network.
“[ABC] had two notes for us: ‘Expand upon this and expand upon that,’" McEntire says. "It wasn’t ‘Take that out’ or ‘Fix [this].’ We’re thrilled to pieces ...
"Hopefully ... ABC will say it’s a go," McEntire adds, "and we’ll start filming in middle of July."
In Red Blooded, McEntire will play Ruby Adair, a sheriff in small-town Kentucky who has her views challenged and starts to see the world differently after a young FBI agent of Middle Eastern descent enters the picture to help with a case.
“I’m a dark character,” McEntire says of her role. “I’ve got a lot of flaws and demons, and I’m having a lot of problems in my personal life. My town is being disrupted, and I’m having to deal with it all. I’m under a lot of stress.”
Red Blooded was created by Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry. He will also act as the drama's showrunner, along with his longtime producing partner Sabrina Wind.
No stranger to the acting world, McEntire spent six seasons as the star of her self-titled WB / CW sitcom Reba and one in the show Malibu Country. Red Blooded, however, will be the artist's first dramatic role in an ongoing series.
