It's truly historic and sad day... a major State Fair is canceled. For the first time since 1946 due to polio fears, KCCI reports the Great Minnesota Get Together is canceled. Much like Iowa's State Fair, Minnesota's boasts huge grandstand shows (Tim McGraw and rapper NF were scheduled for 2020's) and tons of unhealthy but AMAZING fried goodies. Minnesota's State Fair runs 12 days to Iowa's 11, and was set to begin August 27th.

So what does that mean for the 2020 Iowa State Fair? It certainly does not bode well. For one thing, KCCI reported earlier this week that the The Bill Riley Talent Search canceled its 2020 season opting to move it to to 2021 because of the ongoing pandemic. Many grandstand shows are already scrapped as both Chris Stapleton and Sam Hunt have postponed or canceled their 2020 tours (including the Iowa State Fair stop - Stapleton rescheduled his show for 2021's fair) so should the fair happen, it will be far from an ordinary year.

We'll know pretty soon as the Iowa State Fair organizers said an announcement regarding the 2020 year will come in early to mid-June. I'm sure the choice made by Minnesota will influence Iowa's fair organizers. We shall see. The Iowa State Fair is scheduled to kick off on Thursday, August 13. We'll keep you posted.
