MIM Movie Review: Sherlock Holmes & National Treasure
It's another Marks in the Morning Movie Review from Johnny Marks and Tiffany Kay and this week they exchanged classic Blockbuster movies. You could say they are both detective movies of sorts.
Johnny Marks gave Tiffany Kay, Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. If you think this is based off the original book series.... well it couldn't be further from the books. It starts when detective Sherlock Holmes and his crime-solving partner, Dr. Watson capture serial killer Lord Blackwood who is responsible for a string of brutal murders in London. After the catch, Blackwood dies but it doesn't end there. The real mystery begins when Blackwood seems to rise from the grave and be on the loose caussig Holmes and Watson to question the world of the occult and strange technologies in order to catch the killer.
Tiffany Kay also gave Johnny Marks a detective movie of sorts, National Treasure, which stars Nicholas Cage. Historian and code-breaker Ben Gates joins a hunt led by fellow treasure hunter Ian Howe for the ultimate treasure. Gates ends up finding an ice-locked Colonial ship in the Arctic Circle that contains a clue linking the treasure to the Declaration of Independence. But when Howe betrays him, the race is on between Gates and Howe to get to the document before the other and find the treasure.
