What makes this story interesting is that the winner purchased their ticket through the online platform as opposed to buying it in the store. Did you know there are only 9 states that offer to buy lottery tickets online and Iowa is not one of them?

According to We Are Iowa, only Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, and Virginia give people the option of buying online tickets.

Illinois has been selling online lottery tickets since 2012 and was the first state to do so. While you can buy lottery tickets online in various states, most people still purchase them at a store. WDSU reports that only 25% of Tuesdays tickets were bought online, in Illinois.

The winning numbers for Tuesday's drawing were 19-37-40-63-69 and the gold mega ball was 17. The winner has not come forward as of yet to claim their prize.

If you were ever to win a bunch of money playing the lottery, here are some of the first steps you should take before claiming your prize. How long do you think it will take for more states to jump on board with selling lottery tickets online?

Could Iowa be the next state to approve this method?
