Maddie Poppe Jams Out At Waterloo Show For Diehard Fans

They say the people you admire are probably never as nice as you'd think. Maddie Poppe, the Clarksville native, proved everyone right.

She's actually MUCH nicer in real life.

The 'American Idol' winner has been on tour after a few noteworthy career moments. Poppe returned to the Idol stage earlier this year when she performed a duet for 'The Great Idol Reunion' special.

It had been three years since she last sang in front of America like that.

"We took it for granted before!" the Idol winner explained.

"...there's an overwhelming sense of gratefulness."

And the star released the music video for her newest song 'One That Got Away.'

The release of her breakup song comes after her own professional breakup with Hollywood Records, the record label that she signed after winning the singing competition show.

With this track and some new music on the horizon, the singer is doing things her way.

And the star released the music video for her first original song in a few years  'One That Got Away.' The video dropped in May.

"I feel like every song has a big part of me in it and I was able to tell my story."

Her latest song dropped on August 12th at midnight. The track Peace of Mind is her second song that she has released since going independent.

Fans immediately responded with positive feedback for the song, and it meant a whole lot to the singer.

"I've kind of gotten to the point where I don't really care about what people think anymore," the Clarksville native said on her Instagram story. "I guess I'm doing what makes me happy and what I really want to do and I'm proud of."

"When other people actually like it it's a really amazing feeling."

The singer performed this song at a secret VIP session before her show at the Waterloo Elk's Lodge in July. Diehard fans were treated to the song WEEKS before the track dropped.
