The Biggest Skate Park In US Is Being Built In Iowa
Who wants to hang ten? That's skateboarding lingo, right? No? Okay...
That's a shame for me because the country's biggest skatepark is being built right here in the state of Iowa. Our capital city is going to see a whole lot more skaters rolling by over the course of the next few months.
In just a few months the state of Iowa will be home to possibly the biggest skate park in the country. This project has been in the works for some time now. Lauridsen Skatepark in Des Moines will open to the public on May 22, 2021. Located right next to the Des Moines River at the end of the Principal Riverwalk, this skate park might just be the largest in the nation. Not only will this be a skater's dream spot, but Lauridsen Skatepark will include the following: flow bowl, amoeba pool, snake run, and a promenade.
There's even a skate able art piece that you can check out, according to the park's website.
How are they going to fit ALL of that skate stuff into their park? Well, this skatepark will measure in at around 88,000 square feet. That's about FIVE acres of skateboarding.
Once this humongous park is open it will hold regular operational hours. Skaters can come by from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
That's a whole lot of skating...
Just a week after the opening, the park will hold several clinics for skaters across all skill levels. You can check out more information about this on the park's website.
