Iowans finally got their first taste of winter earlier this week. A winter storm with blizzard like conditions swept through most of the Hawkeye State.

Total snowfall throughout Eastern Iowa varied. Waterloo was hit with approximately 11 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

Iowa City was pummeled with 14 inches of snow and Marion was hit by 14.9 inches.

Morning commutes are expected to be impacted today (January 10th), so make sure to drive carefully.

Get Ready For Round 2

According to our weather partners at KCRG, more snow is on the way! There is a high chance of more accumulating snow to hit us Wednesday (January 10th) afternoon.

For those who are thinking ahead to the evening commute, there's a few things to keep in mind.

Reports are predicting that if you are north of Interstate 80 during that drive, you'll be in for some tough travel conditions. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are anticipated in this region.

This is only a little prelude to the "significant storm system" that is set to sweep through Eastern Iowa starting on Thursday night and into Friday night. Officials predict that heavier snow and even stronger winds will be the main thing to look out for during this time.

Expect some major travel disruptions.

Then to top it all off, "bitterly cold Arctic" air will hit Eastern Iowa and will plummet temperatures to below zero this weekend.

Delays and cancellations are anticipated all across the state.
