Are you a cocky drunk? Beats being an angry one, I guess. Or a crying drunk. Whatever drunk you are, since you live in Iowa, there's a good chance you're actually a cocky drunk. And, I don't mean you're just cocky when you're drinking, and actually drunk, I mean you're cocky about how alcohol impacts you.

Iowans think they're ‘Booze Fit’

Are you familiar with the term "booze fit"? I wasn't either. But according to the website Greenhouse Treatment Center, it's a real thing, and Iowans are convinced they are, indeed, booze fit. In fact, nearly 2 in 3 Iowans consider themselves 'Booze Fit', according to this study.

So what is booze fit? It means you feel you're big into the whole work hard and play hard mentality. You also feel you can tie one off without any noticeable repercussions. if you're truly booze fit, you appear unfazed by hangovers despite having just a few short hours of sleep before having to wake up early and face normal daily life duties the following morning.

The study asked 3,131 Americans if they were booze fit and overall, 62% said they are. Men considered themselves more booze fit than women, according to the study, and many Iowans, 47%, say that an adult beverage after a long day took the edge off. But what may be the most interesting thing about this study, Iowa was the second most self-proclaimed booze fit state, only behind Alaska where 71% feel they're booze fit.

While it's fun to imagine we can function somewhat hungover, research has shown that people suffering from a hangover actually have decreased decision-making abilities, thus making it harder to switch between tasks and retain information. So in other words, booze fit may be nothing more than a pipedream. And, this could lead to an unhealthy relationship with alcohol. Even if you think your body is 'trained' to handle more alcohol, drinking in excess can increase cancer risks, liver disease, and high blood pressure.

Cheers!
