Iowans Are Built Different! [VIDEO]

In your opinion what states make up the midwest? Where does it end and when does it become the south? The midwest, in my opinion, is by far one of the most underrated parts of the country. It takes a special kind of toughness to live in the midwest year-round. We deal with winters that can be brutal and summer days that have a heat index of 110.

Iowans and midwesterners are simply built differently. We know how to survive in just about any element and Iowans help feed the entire country. More corn and pork are produced here in our little midwest state than in any other state in the U.S.

We're tougher than everyone else, smarter than everyone else and Iowans would have the best chance of surviving a zombie apocalypse. Okay... maybe I lost you at the zombie apocalypse line but stick with me.

Georgia-born comedian Corey Ryan Forrester made a video explaining how much he loves the midwest and specifically Iowa. I couldn't agree with him more. The midwest is the best. It's a different way of life here in Iowa.

It might not be as fast-paced as New York or as "glitzy" as California. Here in Iowa, we're kind, we treat people with respect, and we work hard. Plus, we know how to throw one hell of a party in the middle of nowhere. The entire midwest is pretty dang good at partying without needing much of anything.

4 inches of snow is nothing to someone from Iowa. We only bust out the snowblower when we get 6 inches. Heck, we call it fall, until it starts snowing. In Georgia, they cancel school if they see a dusting of snow, which might not even stick to the ground overnight.  I applaud Corey Forrester for recognizing Iowans and appreciating what it takes to live here.

I'm off to Menards to save some money and after that, I'm headed to grab a case of Busch Light. I might walk around my block in crocs and some shorts for good measure. Corey helped remind me just how midwestern I really am.
