Iowa has two proud grocery chains that were both born in the Hawkeye State: Fareway (Boone, Iowa) and Hy-Vee (West Des Moines, Iowa). Both are stepping up their love for their home state with two awesome new initiatives:

According to a press release we received by email, Fareway announced today, Monday, that they plan to donate $200,000 to the Iowa Chamber of Commerce Executives (ICCE). This will provide $1,000-2,000 in gift cards to ICCE chamber of commerce members in the communities Fareway serves. This will be a nice and helpful boost for area small businesses and their employees who could use extra money to purchase groceries and other essentials during the difficult time.

Meanwhile, Hy-vee announced in a press release we received via email, that they're Hy-Vee looking for photos to recognize hometown heroes and essential workers throughout the state. The photos will be displayed on Hy-Vee’s various social media platforms as part of a a video montage for the company's #HelpfulSmileStrong campaign and as an extension of Hy-Vee’s recent heroes ad currently airing on TV.

Hy-Vee and Hy-Vee Gas have several area locations.
