Iowa Government Official Forced To Resign Due To Tupac Obsession
Everyone has their own set of likes and dislikes, especially when it comes to music and not everyone is going to agree. However, could an obsession with an artist be taken a little to far in the workplace?
66-year- old Jerry Foxhoven used to be the Department of Human Services Director for Iowa. I emphasize "used to be" because he was recently forced to resign.... because of his obsession with the late rapper Tupac? Apparently, Foxhoven really loved the late rapper who was huge in the 90's and later killed in a drive by shooting in 1996. And no, I don't mean how fan girls really loved Justin Bieber and made signs asking for him to marry him or screaming whenever his voice came on the radio... but Foxhoven's obsession is a little odd.
You see, Foxhoven made it very clear to everyone in his office about how massive of a fan he was of Tupac. How? Well, here's how:
1. He would host "Tupac Fridays" every week where he'd play the music in the office. (doesn't sound too bad)
2. He'd regularly email lyrics to coworkers . And by regularly we mean there was a search done and it was found that Jerry sent 350 pages worth of emails with the word "Tupac" in them over the past two years. (I mean, still not too bad over two years."
3. On his 65th birthday, he had Tupac cookies decorated with the words "Thug Life" . . . which was the tattoo across Tupac's abs.... (okay, that is a little odd, I admit)
4. Last month, he sent an email to all 4,300 employees under him telling them they should commemorate Tupac's birthday over the weekend by listening to his music. (still not outrageous)
Well, this last point was apparently the final straw for some of the employees as the day after he sent that last email, he was asked to resign from his job by the governor of Iowa. His Tupac obsession had led employees to complained so much about this obsession and the email was the last straw... of course, a spokesman for the governor also stated that "a lot of factors" led to the resignation request.
