Hy-Vee Announces Product Recall
An Iowa-based grocery store chain has announced a product recall.
Hy-Vee, Inc. is voluntarily recalling its own brand of Chicken Street Taco. According to company officials, individual kits from Reser's Fine Foods are repackaged and sold with the Hy-Vee label on them. Each kit has Chipotle Crema Sauce that contains egg, which was NOT declared on the label.
People who are allergic or severely sensitive to egg run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products, Hy-Vee officials said in a press release announcing the recall.
According to Hy-Vee officials, there have been no reports of illness or complaints involving the recalled product so far. The Hy-Vee-brand Chicken Street Taco kits were distributed to the company's stores in eight midwestern states: Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The press release said the voluntary recall includes Hy-Vee Chicken Street Taco Kits that were sold in deli cases (pictured below). They were packaged in black plastic trays with clear plastic lids with the Universal Product Code (UPC) 02-82503-09993. Each label has the words: “Best If Use By”, with a date prior to May 27, 2021.
Customers with an egg allergy or sensitivity who have purchased the affected Chicken Street Taco kits are urged not to consume the product. Hy-Vee officials said customers should either throw the packages in the garbage or return the product to their local Hy-Vee store for a full refund.
Anyone with questions should contact Hy-Vee Customer Care representatives at 1-800-772-4098. They are available 24-hours daily, Hy-Vee officials said.
