Iowa Department of Transportation is known to put interesting safety messages out on the state's interstate signs every single week. They range from informative, deadly serious, to sometimes pretty humorous.
For nearly a decade, Iowa DOT has been putting out these unique signs as reminders of the importance of safe driving. According to a report, the department used to have the messages go up on signs along the interstate on Mondays. Since July of 2021, these "Message Mondays" have since become "Message Fridays."

In celebration of 'Hocus Pocus 2' Iowa DOT ran with a fun and informative message to remind drivers to be careful of deer out on the roads. According to Zero Fatalities Iowa on Facebook
"Harvest season is upon us. With crops coming out of the fields, we’re starting to see more activity with deer running amok sometimes finding themselves on Iowa roads."
Nearly 8,000 crashes with animals were reported last year. Read more about the safety suggestions down below!
The recent message references Winnifred and Sarah Sanderson's well-known exchange:
"All Hallow's Eve has become a night of frolic! Where children wear costumes and run amok!" the red-headed witch exclaims.
"Amok! Amok! Amok!" Sarah sings.
In honor of that famous moment, Iowa DOT came up with this message!
