On Monday, Hawkeye Community College announced that the two will be offering a School to Work program that will provide high-demand training and employment opportunities in areas such as electrical and mechanical maintenance.

Individuals that are accepted into the program will earn their associates degree in Industrial Automation Technology. They will also walk out of the program with a 1,000-hour internship at a manufacturing plant.

When they finish the program, individuals have the opportunity to be hires for full time employment with John Deere, as positions are available.

People wanting more information on the program and what to expect can attend an informational meeting on Wednesday March 30th on Hawkeye’s main campus in Waterloo. There participants will learn about careers, wages, earning potential, training, and forgivable loans.

This is not the only community college in the area that offers programs that help people get in a career with Deere. Students in Iowa have the opportunity to attend community colleges that help them build a career in the industry.

The John Deere TECH program at the Northeast Iowa Community College has earned top rankings from the company three times, with the most recent being in 2021.
