The basic food groups consist of: Grains, Veggies, Fruit, Dairy, and Meat. A balanced diet for Iowans also includes a good supply of delicious bacon.

In a state where pigs outnumber humans eight to one, bacon is a way of life for Iowans.

But the dispute over how it is consumed has been plaguing us for eons: Chewy or Crispy.

Now, it appears that the delicate balance to have the best of both worlds has been identified.

Introducing: TWISTED BACON.

This spiral cooking technique took the internet by storm earlier this month courtesy of a user on TikTok.

It’s quite simple: Twist strips of bacon, put them on a wire rack over a baking sheet, place it in the oven at 375°F for 30 to 35 minutes, and voila! Crispy AND chewy bacon. You’re welcome.

Start munching immediately or jazz it up with a few sprinkles of brown sugar or drench the twists in maple syrup.

There’s almost nothing worse than being woken up by a shrieking alarm clock. But the agony of facing another work day is always brightened by the aroma of bacon being prepared.
