EPI: “More Than You See”
I had so much fun being able to be the emcee for EPI's fundraiser, "More Than You See," on Friday night! Before I tell you how the night went, let me tell you a little more about the organization as maybe you are like me and don't know much about them (that's how I was when I first heard about this).
EPI or Exceptional Persons Inc. is a local non-profit organization that helps people to get integrated into the community whether they have a disability or have fallen on hard times. The "More Than You See" event was created to bring local business and people involved in the community together to bring awareness about looking beyond the obvious on one's disability or situation and spending time to help those out in the community and get to know them.
Of course, "More Than You See" was a big fundraiser for EPI. They were raising money to support EPI's most critical needs such as employment services, critical housing improvements, emergency childcare, and providing for basic needs of the individual. To do this, they put on an amazing auction and dare I say, party! They had dueling pianos, 176 Keys there, who not only played but donated all their tips to EPI and made sure everyone was singing along and having fun. Oh, of course the alcohol may have helped a little.
Overall, it was an amazing night and EPI raised more than their goal of $4,000! In fact, they raised over $48,000!!! Congrats to all involved who put in so much hard work to make this happen, all of those who donated and thank you for allowing me to be involved in an amazing event!
