We do not deserve dogs.

Next time you have Christmas music playing in the house, pay attention to how your dog responds to particular songs because believe it or not, they not only enjoy the festive tunes, they have a "favorite".

According to People magazine, a thousand dog owners took part in a survey conducted by UK-based Guide Dogs. It stated that dogs do respond to music and enjoy listening to it in general year-round, but in terms of the holiday music that makes them most jolly, one song took the cookie.

Collectively known as Wham!, the duo of the late George Michael and Andrew Ridgely penned this classic back in 1984. The survey said the pet owners who took part found their dogs more responsive to "upbeat" tunes than slow, quiet, instrumental classics. If you know the premise of "Last Christmas", you're scratching your head, as it would seem to be only upbeat melodically but not lyrically, right? "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, but the very next day, you gave it away." Whatever, Fido loves it, as do we, so let him hear it. (If your dog happens to be named Jimmy or Taylor, there are a couple of remakes that might suffice.)

Their next group of favorites makes more sense

"All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah, along with "Wonderful Christmastime" by Paul McCartney made the list, as did Michael Buble's rendition of "It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas".  A surprise entrant was "Driving Home for Christmas" by Chris Rea (ever notice how stoked your dog gets when you offer to take them for a drive/ride? Makes sense.)

Another favorite is performed by actual dogs

Good pooches give props to their own so it's no wonder another song they like is "Jingle Bells" by the Singing Dogs.

Whatever you and your furbabies are listening to this season, we hope you have a safe and happy one together.
