America is made up of people from all different kinds of backgrounds, ethnicities, and cultures. Other than living here in America, do you know what else we all have in common? Our love of Pizza! There's a part of me that doesn't think I can trust you if you genuinely can't find a type of pizza you can enjoy unless you have an issue with dairy...that just makes me sad for you.

The state of Iowa is well known for Casey's pizza, which is pretty fantastic for the price, but there are plenty of other fantastic pizza choices in Iowa. Like Chad's in Cedar Falls. They've been crowned best pizza in Iowa for back-to-back years. One of my personal favorites is Need Pizza in Cedar Rapids. Have you tried Maggie's Farm Wood-Fired Pizza in Iowa City yet? That stuff is legendary.

In today's busy world and with the advancement of food delivery services like Grub Hub and Door Dash, it's pretty simple to get sit-down restaurant quality food brought right to your door. The times during the pandemic sucked but if there's one positive you can take from that time, it's that restaurants and food delivery services found ways to bring restaurant-quality food to us.

When you and/or your family order pizza to be delivered to your house, 9 times out of 10 it's going to be delivered in a cardboard box. Why is that?  According to Daily Delish, "cardboard is both cheap and easy to work with, it's lightweight, and it maintains the structural integrity to hold and delivery pizzas." What should you do with this box when your delicious pizza is gone?

Should You Put Your Empty Pizza Boxes in the Recycling?

The short answer is yes. The cardboard can go in your Iowa recycling bin. That doesn't mean you should just throw the cardboard box in the bin all willy-nilly. To properly dispose of your pizza box it needs to be empty and have zero pizza remnants on the inside. You may have to pick off some of the crust or cheese that has hardened on the inside, which should take you all of 20 seconds. After that, Iowa City says to flatten the cardboard and size it to no bigger than 2x2 feet. Again, something that will take maybe 20 seconds.

Enjoy your pizza! Is it just me or are you suddenly hungry?
