10 Years Ago: UNI Records Biggest Win In Program History [VIDEO]

Most fans who watched ninth-seeded UNI beat overall No. 1 seed Kansas in the NCAA Tournament can remember where they were when the upset occurred on March 20, 2010.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of that remarkable second-round game, played at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, Okla. The 69-67 victory still ranks as the Panthers' biggest in program history.

In a search of the 10 greatest March Madness upsets, UNI's win is ranked No. 6 by 247sports.com and No. 7 by Sports Raid. Who doesn't remember Ali Farokhmanesh catching Kwadzo Ahelegbe's pass and draining the three-point dagger from behind the arc with 36 seconds remaining AND nearly a full shot clock? And, freshman teammate Jake Koch forcing an offensive foul against the Jayhawks on their ensuing possession?

The second-round victory put the Panthers in the Sweet 16 for the first time -- and to date, only time -- in program history. According to Sports Raid, the outcome was historic for another reason: it marked the first time in NCAA Tournament history that the overall top-seed failed to advance past the second round.
