We're getting there. The end of this terrible pandemic. We're certainly not there yet - but we're definitely moving in the right direction. There's some numbers here in Iowa that prove that, and there's word today from Dr. Fauci that he is predicting 'open season' on all Americans getting the vaccine come April.

First off, CBS2 reports that as of today, February 11, 99,978 people in Iowa have now been fully vaccinated (they've had two doses) against COVID-19. That number is 4,336 more than what we had yesterday morning. The total number of people in Iowa who have/had COVID-19 sits at 327,255. While that may seem far off, we're now averaging roughly 3,500 more vaccinated per day than infected.

If the variants don't explode like the initial incarnation of the virus, and if people continue to do the right thing, the number of vaccinated could; and should, surpassed those infected by sometime next month. Despite Governor Reynolds lifting restrictions on Iowans, we still need to keep at it: wearing masks (they annoy me too), minimizing our gatherings, and staying home when possible. Certainly I wouldn't have said this in November, even December, but it looks like the light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer and closer.
