Emerging country artist Jay Allen’s emotional serenade to his mother has gone viral, and for good reason. The moment, which was caught by a fan during Allen’s performance at the Dubuque Country Fair on July 27, shows Allen singing his song “Blank Stares” to his mom while she tightly held onto him.

“God gifted me with a voice and the ability to write songs, and I feel He gave me an opportunity through that to not only help my mama, but to use 'Blank Stares' as a tool to fight against Alzheimer’s,” Allen told ABC News after the outlet picked up the story.

“This video going viral is proof that we have the ability to take something bad and turn it into something good. Please continue to like and share. From the bottom of my heart, thank you," he adds.

As it turns out, Allen’s mom’s influence on his career can not go understated, as it was she who encouraged him to move from his home state of Iowa five years ago to pursue a career in Nashville. She also cemented his love of country music at an early age, infusing the home with music from greats such as George Strait and John Michael Montgomery.

The actual serenade itself has taken on a life of its own, as its racked up over a million views since it was first posted last week. And now, the song itself will go to help others dealing with the disease, with all proceeds from the song itself going to benefit Abe’s Garden, a memory care center in Nashville.

And this heartwarming moment just might be a little glimpse of what fans will soon see from this young star. Allen is said to be in the studio currently working on new music.
