Cody Johnson finally made his highly anticipated return to Iowa, and he sure did not disappoint!

On Friday, March 18th Johnson entertained a sold-out arena in Coralville. Xtream Arena opened to the public in September of 2020, but due to the venue trying to adhere to COVID-19 protocols many huge events or concerts were pushed back.

This arena usually plays host to the Iowa Hawkeyes volleyball teams as well as the hockey team the Iowa Heartlanders.

Cody Johnson is only the second artist to perform at the arena. The first was country superstar Toby Keith. Keith came to Coralville late last year for the venue's very first show.

The Til You Can't singer did something that not even Toby Keith could...

Cody Johnson was the first artist to sell out this 6,600 seat venue!

During the concert, the Texas native kept remarking to the crowd about this huge accomplishment. He clearly was grateful to every single person in that arena for showing up.

The star was on cloud nine during the entire show. Johnson owned the stage in an enthusiastic performance where he would jump and stomp his way through every single song. For nearly TWO hours, the proud Texan entertained his loyal fans.

Clearly, the huge crowd got him worked up, but around halfway through his show he revealed the real reason why he was even more amped up than usual. Right before the Coralville concert, he got a career-making call.

'Til You Can't' had just gone #1 on mainstream country radio.

Right before performing the chart-topping hit on that Friday night, he shared the exciting news with thousands of fans.

"This song just went number one on country radio! Congratulations!" Johnson declared,

"No, no, no, no! Congratulations to you! You wanna know why? 'Cause you stood up for country music and we got ourselves a hit, ladies and gentleman."

This is his first #1 hit for country radio. He reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country charts in February of this year.
