Christina is going country ... for ABC's "Nashville" TV show that is. People is reporting that "The Vocie" judge Christina Aguilera has signed a deal to join the cast of "Nashville", and it's not a cameo.

Her role? Jade St. John will be a new character that moves to Nashville after being caught up pop music's "music machine". It gave her the fame and fortune that she now enjoys, but she wants more.

St. John really loves country music, and she plans to give it a go.  The Pop "music machine" doesn't really allow her to grow as an artist.  That's the shooting start Aguilera's character is looking to catch in Nashville.

Reportedly, Aguilera is also set to produce a TV series for ABC Family, and she has plans to record a new album.

Nashville airs Wednesdays at 9:00 PM-CT on ABC-TV.
