New Amazon Facility Opens Doors in Cedar Falls

Officials announced earlier this week the opening of a new Amazon facility right here in Eastern Iowa. It will be the ninth one set up in the Hawkeye State.

This project has been publicly in the works since the end of 2023, according to reports.

Located in Cedar Falls, this distribution facility allegedly cost around $4 million and measures at approximately 53,230-square-feet.

Amazon has opened something called a "Last Mile" facility in Cedar Falls this month, according to reports.

A "Last Mile" facility is where the workers pack up Amazon orders put them in delivery trucks, and bring them to your door.

So, this new facility will make getting your packages in Eastern Iowa a faster process.

Amazon has also partnered with local groups and has even donated $5,000 to the Cedar Falls Schools Foundation, according to reports.

Where Is the Facility Located?

This recently opened Amazon facility is located on 6417 Innovation Drive in Cedar Falls. It is not too far from the Cedar Valley Gymnastics Academy and the Target Distribution Center.

How Many People Will They Employ?

According to a recent report from KCRG, this new facility has already created approximately forty new jobs. At the moment, these openings are only for part time positions with most of the shifts being overnight.

The plan is for the Amazon team to expand and add even more positions in the near future.
