Why Caitlin Clark and Taylor Swift Are the Internet’s New Favorite Duo
Saturday, January 18th 2025 will be a day for the history books.
It is not because of the so called "Tik Tok ban" that actually only lasted maybe twelve hours.
No, it's actually because of something major that happened during that afternoon's matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Texans.
While the Chiefs are once again heading to the AFC Championships, it's what happened off the field that is getting so much attention.

Taylor Swift and Caitlin Clark Spotted Chatting During the Game
I was actually watching the game at a friend's house when THE MOMENT happened. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a bit of a bandwagon fan of football and the NFL.
Last year, when Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce first started dating Taylor Swift, I immediately became invested. I started trying to understand the rules of football, how the NFL worked as a league, and began getting to know some of the key players.
I remember turning to my friend who is a much bigger fan of football than I ever will be and casually asking, "Hey! When is Taylor going to show up?"
Just moments after, he pointed to the tv and said, "There she is!"
And lo and behold! She was in fact sitting in her typical suite, as she has been for the past year.
This time though, there was another notable person with her. Someone who every single Iowan knows; former Iowa Hawkeye star turned WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark.
As a certified Swiftie and Caitlin Clark fan myself, I had a totally chill reaction...
Who am I kidding?!?
I ABSOLUTELY FREAKED OUT AND SCREAMED AT THE TELEVISION!

When Worlds Collide: Swift x Clark
I was not the only one going crazy seeing the two of them chatting it up. The cameras would pan to them a few times over the course of the game and social media was loving it.
There's a clip of the fourteen time Grammy nominee whispering something into Clark's ear. Another moment actually had me tearing up a bit.
The two women embraced after a 49-yard reception from Travis Kelce during the first half.
You can even see just how happy Caitlin Clark is to be embracing one of the biggest pop stars in the world.
Caitlin Clark Is A Lifelong Swiftie
The West Des Moines native recently appeared on the Kelce brothers' 'New Heights' podcast. They talked about her history making collegiate career, her lifelong Chiefs fandom, and her experience at the Eras tour.
Clark went to three shows on Taylor Swift's record breaking tour. She attended one show in Minneapolis with her college friends, and two back to back nights in Indianapolis.
"Electric! It was great!" Clark said on the pod regarding the shows she saw at Lucas Oil Stadium.
She even shared in her TIME Athlete of the Year article that Taylor sent her boxes of tour merch and invited her to eventually attend a Chiefs game.
Looks like she took her up on that offer!

Clark actually went viral for her love of Taylor Swift back in college! In a social media post that the Iowa Women's Basketball team did early last year, the players were asked what there very Taylor song is.
The clip that went around on social media was Caitlin Clark absolutely belting the lyrics to 'Enchanted.'
My favorite part of that video was Clark moving out of frame and her teammate Hannah Stuelke looking absolutely mortified.
