After the Olympic break Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever returned with a vengeance.

In their first games back the Indiana Fever won back-to-back home games.

On Friday, August 16th the Phoenix Mercury left Gainbridge Fieldhouse losers. The team with veteran stars Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner fell to the young Fever squad 89 to 98.

Then on Sunday, August 18th the team battled #5 ranked Seattle Storm and won 75 to 92 in a record smashing game. While several key team members had great moments in the game, it's Caitlin Clark who broke not one but two franchise records.

Record #1

During the second quarter of this stellar game, Aliyah Boston got the rebound after Seattle scored. She then handed it off to Caitlin Clark who took it up court and then handed it off to Lexie Hull who made the layup.

This assist was historic for the league.

During this play, Clark broke the record (224) for most assists by a rookie in WNBA history. She has the rest of the season left, so you know her assists number is just going to go up from here.

The record was set before the West Des Moines native was even born!

Ticha Penicheiro of the Sacramento Monarchs (which isn't even a team anymore) set this record back in 1998.

Now Penicheiro is a sports agent in Portugal and clearly has no hard feelings about her record being smashed through. She even made a video that the Fever posted on their socials congratulating CC.

"A lot of people always talk about your shooting. I was always mesmerized about your passing, your court vision, and how you make your teammates better," Penicheiro said.

"...continue to do what you do! Continue to elevate your game, and the women's game, and the WNBA."

Record #2

We know that if there's a record, Caitlin Clark is going to find a way to break it.

Another thing we know about CC is that she's going to go for the three pointers if given the opportunity. That's just what she did on Sunday!

The rookie passed 2011 WNBA MVP Tamika Catchings and set a franchise record for three-pointers made by a rookie with 77.

Could we see Clark break even more records as they possibly make their way to the playoffs and beyond? Who's to say!
