CV SPORTS WEEKEND PREVIEW:
The NFL Playoffs and Championship Weekend highlight a busy weekend for Cedar Valley sports fans.  The Hawkeyes, Cyclones, Panthers, Knights, Black Hawks all have a busy sports calendar too.  All schools will see their men’s and women’s basket ball teams take to the hardwood, and their wrestling teams all have big match ups this weekend.

Women's Olympic Hockey Team Goalie Asked to Remove Her Helmet:
The International Olympic Committee has told Team USA women’s hockey goalie Jessie Vetter to remove the words “We the People” from her custom mask before the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.  The IOC feels that words are “propaganda” promoting the United States over other countries, according to Ron Slater, the mask’s artist. He also makes custom masks for NHL players.

In Sochi, Russia, there have been Islamic threats coming from Chechnya, who want to be their own country.  Russia is making them participate as Russian.  Because of the threats, a National Security analyst suggest to stay home; it's not safe.

Bucky is very excited about "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," but that is not the only movie released this weekend. 'Devil's Due,' 'The Nut Job,' and 'Ride Along' also hit the big screen.

Waterloo Native Debuts on UFC Saturday:
Waterloo native Mike “Biggie” Rhodes will make his UFC debut during the UFC on Fox 10 event on Saturday, January 25th in Chicago. Rhodes is a 2008 graduate of Columbus High School has a professional mixed martial arts record of 6-1 and will be taking on George Sullivan, a fighter from North Carolina with a professional record of 14-3-1. Rhodes trained with Team ROC in Waterloo before moving to Milwaukee to train with Roufusport MMA academy.
