The Waterloo Black Hawks fell behind early at Tyson Events Center Friday, but had enough time to rally for a 3-2 road win against the Sioux City Musketeers.

Just 95 seconds into the game, the Musketeers broke pressure in their own zone, and Avery Peterson sped up ice to send a low shot past Cameron Johnson.  Sioux City made it 2-0 during a power play at 7:18; Peterson sent the puck from the right point diagonally across the slot for Trevor
Olson, who scored from the side of the net.

The second period ended favorably for the visitors after a brief scare.  The Musketeers put the puck into the net at 16:03, but the goal was disallowed due to a pileup in the crease.  Just 32 seconds later, Patrick Russell put the Black Hawks on the board, capping a give-and-go play with Peter Krieger by firing a wrist shot past Kyle Hayton’s glove side.

Russell completed Waterloo’s comeback with 6:47 remaining in regulation. Liam Pecararo fed a pass from behind the Sioux City net to Waterloo’s top goal-scorer waiting in the right wing circle, and Russell snapped the equalizer into the net off the crossbar.  Three-and-a-half minutes later, Brandon Montour put Waterloo in front, going to the net to knock in a chance setup by Pecararo and Krieger.

Johnson turned in 36 saves for the win, while Hayton made 44 stops.

The weekend wraps up on the road Saturday as the Hawks make their first visit of the season to Des Moines.  Game time against the Buccaneers is 7:05.  Waterloo will see Sioux City again soon at home, hosting the Musketeers on Friday March 14th at Young Arena.
