Party Town was ROCKIN' once again on Saturday night, in what could be easily described as the Black Hawks best (and most exciting) win of the year. Waterloo blasted 19 shots on the goal in the third period, and scored three times in about four minutes of game time to tie the score at 6-6, sending the contest into overtime.

SATURDAY NIGHT VS. CHICAGO
It sounded like the "old days" at Young Arena, with the building a little over half full of fans, (due to COVID-19 limitations) they made their presence known, standing on their feet and with their cow bells on "full blast", Mason Reiners’ first USHL goal sent the crowd into a frenzy, producing a 7-6 overtime win against the league-leading Chicago Steel.

According to a team game re-cap: just shy of midway into the extra time, Max Sasson brought the puck up ice and drew the attention of multiple Steel defenders in the left corner. He lifted a pass to the top of the crease, connecting with Reiners. The veteran defenseman was alone in front of goalie Nick Haas and beat him from close range with a low wrist shot. A wild celebration ensued which left Reiners at the bottom of a pile beside the net (see photo below).

It was a comeback for the ages. After trailing 6-3 in the third, Waterloo’s rally began with Dane Montgomery pushing in a shot, two-and-a-half minutes later, Ryan O’Hara cut Chicago’s lead to one, as Owen Ozar pulled the puck away from Haas, centering it for O’Hara, who scored into an open net from the slot. A minute and a half later, Sasson then produced the equalizer, evening the teams at 6-6. The Black Hawks thought they had taken the lead minutes later, but Wyatt Schingoethe was ruled to have kicked in a deflection near the side of the net. The “no goal” left room for Reiners’ memorable moment in overtime. (see video below)

FRIDAY NIGHT AT OMAHA

The Omaha Lancers produced three goals in each period, upending the Black Hawks by a score of 6-2 Friday night at Ralston Arena.

The home team jumped to the lead with their first two goals in the final seven minutes of the opening frame. Then Omaha stretched their lead to 4-0 in the second before the Hawks drew back within two by intermission. Luke Bast’s shot was partially blocked, but Max Sasson came along and stuck the puck into the net. Matt Argentina connected for the next Black Hawks score near the end of the 2nd period. Omaha’s two third period goals were into an empty net goals to complete the scoring, making the outcome look worse than it was.

HEADED TO NEBRASKA THIS WEEKEND
