Black Hawks At Home Fri. & Sat. Night-Limited Tickets On Sale

After a three week lay-off due to COVID-19 regulations, the Black Hawks were finally back on the ice last weekend. The long break showed, as the team came "out of the gates" slow with two losses. A team press release re-cap reminded us that last Friday night at home, the game was scoreless into the third period before Sioux Falls recorded what proved to be the game’s only goal in the 3rd period. Goalie Jack Williams made 26 saves in the loss. On Saturday night in Dubuque, Waterloo never completely recovered from the Fighting Saints’ three-goal first period. In the 5-3 defeat, Owen Ozar scored twice and John Waldren notched the final Hawks score of the night.

This weekend, it'll be an early Christmas present for Black Hawks' season ticket holders, as Waterloo hosts the Green Bay Gamblers. Prior to being idle last weekend, Green Bay had owned the top spot in the USHL Eastern Conference, they are now 3 points behind the Chicago Steel. Friday’s contest will be just the second Gambler road game of the season. Then on Saturday at 6:05 p.m., Waterloo will take on the Sioux City Musketeers. You might remember, the clubs split a weekend series in Sioux City on November 13th and 14th.

The games this weekend, will be limited to season ticket holders only with a limited number available to the general public. It was just announced that a limited number of tickets for both weekend games will go on sale Friday morning at 8am. The tickets will be sold on-line only at tickets.waterlooblackhawks.com, while supplies last.

Team Highlights:

• Forward Owen Ozar scored his first two USHL goals during the Black Hawks’ loss against Dubuque on Saturday. He now has three points during his time with Waterloo.
• Waterloo’s 14 shots on goal during the opening 20 minutes in Dubuque Saturday matched the team’s season high for the most chances in a period. The Hawks followed up with 13 more shots on goal during the third period. During the first four matchups of 2020/21, Waterloo has averaged only 25.3 shots per game, which currently ties for 12th in the league.
• First-year defenseman Jonah Copre has a goal and two assists during his early appearances for the Hawks. Those three points tie him for 14th among all USHL players at his position.
