A New Czech Village BBQ Restaurant is Opening for Dine-In in May

A new Cedar Rapids restaurant is almost ready to open for dine-in!

Back in February, we told you that a popular local food truck Up in Smoke BBQ had opened up a permanent location over in the Czech Village. The restaurant has moved into the former Anvil Meat Market at 92 16th Avenue SW, which permanently closed in September of 2021.

Since moving into their new space, Up in Smoke BBQ has only been doing carryout and catering, but that will soon come to an end! According to a recent Facebook post, the restaurant is planning on opening their doors for dine-in on Tuesday, May 17th.

Up in Smoke is run by Tim Sines and his son Adam, and our previous article reported that "everything they serve, except for the baked beans, is made from scratch. Even those receive the special Up in Smoke BBQ touch before being served. They make their own sauces and rubs and even brine and smoke their own salmon." The Gazette says that the menu will include favorites like pulled pork, brisket, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, and mini loaves of cornbread served with habanero berry jam.

There are actually a couple of other places in Cedar Rapids that you can try Up in Smoke BBQ! Their Czech Village neighbor Lucky's on 16th has been using some of the smoked meats for sandwiches and mac & cheese, and they have a stand at Kernels Stadium this season where they're serving up a new item: the Mac & Cheese Bowl. The Facebook page says it's "everyone's favorite mac and cheese, with a brisket or pulled pork topper. As always, we'll put slaw on it for ya."
