More than a dozen teams from the Cedar Valley and northeast Iowa are ranked in the second high school football poll of the season released Tuesday afternoon by the Associated Press.

Cedar Falls (2-1) moved into the Class 5A Top 10 this week after pulling out a thrilling last-second victory at Cedar Rapids Prairie Friday night. The Tigers rallied for the victory after Prairie took a 21-17 lead with 51 second remaining in the game. On its ensuing possession, Cedar Falls lateraled four times on a 62-yard hook-and-latter play, which set up a 12-yard game-winning touchdown pass for the Tigers with :07 left (see video above).

Waverly-Shell Rock (3-0) moved up four spots in the Class 4A survey. The Go-Hawks are ranked No. 4 following a 31-14 victory at Webster City.

West Delaware and Independence are both ranked among the Class 3A favorites, but they moved in opposite directions since the previous poll was released a week ago. West Delaware (2-1) dropped from third to fifth after a 42-21 loss to Decorah at home. The Mustangs (3-0) jumped three spots to No. 6 following a 45-0 shutout of Decorah.

Three area teams -- all unbeaten after three games -- are ranked in Class 1A. They include Dike-New Hartford (No. 6), Denver (No. 8) and MFL-Mar-Mac (No. 10).

The Class A survey also features three teams from the regional: North Tama (3-0) at No. 5, Grundy Center (2-1) at No. 7 and North Butler (3-0) at No. 9.

Janesville is also off to a strong start. The Wildcats (3-0) held on to the No. 7 ranking in the 8-player poll for a second-straight week.

New Wins Leader Among Iowa Coaches

One other team that joined the rankings this week is Ankeny Centennial. The Jaguars (2-1) jumped into the Class 5A Top 10 after Friday night's 42-7 victory over Waukee at home. The win was a notable one for Centennial Co-Head Coach Jerry Pezzetti, who set the all-time record for most career coaching victories in Iowa.

Pezzetti's 432 wins moved him past the former leader Dick Tighe, who won 431 games during a 63-year career that included stops at Fort Dodge St. Edmond (most recent), Iowa Falls, Webster City, Carroll Kuemper and Hamilton Catholic (Ont.).

This is Pezzetti's ninth season at Centennial and his 61st overall. Pezzetti previously won 319 games at Ankeny, before the district opened a second school. Early in his career, Pezzetti coached at Melcher-Dallas and Murray.

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.

Read on to see which pets are banned in your home state, as well as across the nation.
