While details remain extremely sparse at this time, Iowa's News Now has reportedly received confirmation that a woman's leg was severely injured in a train accident in downtown Cedar Rapids over the weekend.
What we know
The young woman and her group of friends were leaving a downtown club and trying to cross the railroad tracks when the accident happened. According to CRPD, one woman got her foot caught after the train shifted and moved.
Police said the woman suffered traumatic injuries to both feet, but no official word yet as to the extent of those injuries.
A video reportedly showed police and first responders near the scene of the incident, tending to the woman whose left foot was reportedly severed above the ankle. KCRG pinpoints the location of the accident in the 400 block of 2nd Ave. SE. The train tracks in that area were shut down for a period of time following the accident, but have since reopened.
