Parts of Eastern and Northeastern Iowa were hit with it's first bit of snow on Wednesday afternoon.

It feels like five minutes ago, we were all sweating our butts off during a warmer than normal summer and fall.

Now, it seems like November is in full swing and that we will start to see temperatures dip into the 40s and 30s.

2024-2025 Winter Forecast

According to the official Old Farmer's Almanac, the 2024-2025 winter season will be "calmer, gentler" than in years past.

In states in the Upper Midwest like Minnesota and Wisconsin, the winter months won't be as bitter as they normally are. While it will be cold in this region, it won't be nearly as cold it has been in previous years.

These cold shots will hit the area in early November, early and late January, late February, and early March.

Most of this area will not see any snow on Christmas morning, so take that as you will.

Will Iowa Have a White Christmas?

Get ready to blast Bing Crosby here in the Hawkeye State...

Iowa is set to have a pretty mild winter, so we won't be seeing any major snowfall until the new year. The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts that this winter in Iowa will be a welcome reprieve from the past few years.

"We’re predicting a temperate, uneventful winter—potentially a welcome reprieve from the extremes of recent years.”

The coldest temperatures will hit the Heartland in late January and early February. This also just so happens to be the same time when Iowans will most likely get hit with some snow.

However, there will be some snow in the forecast right around Christmastime, according to reports. So, Iowans should get ready to deck the halls because a white Christmas is a STRONG possibility.
