Following Gov. Kim Reynolds' decision to keep Iowa schools closed through the month of April, Waterloo Schools announced an update to the district's free meal program.

District officials said meals are now being delivered to the Cedar Crest & Lantern Square apartments in Waterloo, where families can walk out and pick them up from 10 to 11 AM. At Cedar Crest, the pick-up location is the common area behind the apartments on Columbia and West Dale streets. At Lantern Square, the meals can be picked-up near the pool entrance.

Starting Friday (April 3), the district is offering curbside pick-ups at several school sites. Backpacks of food for the weekend will be also handed out at each one, while supplies last.

Parents can drive up or walk up to any of these locations Monday through Friday at the following times:

9-10 AM: at Cunningham, Kingsley, and Orange.
10-11 AM: at Kittrell, Highland.
11 AM-Noon: at Becker and Lou Henry.
Noon-1 PM: at Irving, Lincoln, Poyner.
9 AM-Noon: at Education Service Center, 1516 Washington St. (site for Lowell).

Also starting Friday (April 3), feminine hygiene products will be available for students at the Education Service Center upon request.

Officials remind everyone that all district campuses are currently closed to stop the spread of COVID-19. The closures include playgrounds, equipment, courts, tracks, etc., until further notice.
