Authorities have identified two men who died this week in separate northeast Iowa accidents.

According to Buchanan County sheriff's officials, 51-year-old Thomas Gregory of Fairbank was killed Wednesday morning when he was electrocuted while trimming a tree in Hazleton. Investigators determined that Gregory came into contact with an overhead power line while using a boom lift to cut down the tree.

Gregory was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff's officials said.

The accident happened in the 200 block of South Street West.

UPDATE: One Killed In Crash Near Fredericksburg

The second fatal mishap involved a car and semi tractor-trailer. The crash happened in Chickasaw County Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 68-year-old Thomas Kolodziej of Nashua was killed after he failed to yield at a stop sign. The car Kolodziej was driving was broadsided by a semi, driven driven by 50-year-old Jason Woodring of Fredericksburg.

Authorities said Woodring didn't suffer any injuries.

Wednesday's crash happened just before 3 PM at the U.S. Highway 63-U.S. Highway 18/Iowa Highway 346 interchange about seven miles west Fredericksburg and seven miles south of New Hampton.
