UNI Tackle Boasts Hometown Fan Club in Kansas City

Spencer Brown went viral a week ago for his interaction with former Iowa cornerback, Desmond King III.

A week later and he's back in the headlines after 200-300 people from his hometown showed up to support him and the Buffalo Bills during their 38-20 victory over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

For frame of reference, the small town in southeast Iowa has roughly 1,400 people who reside there.

"The town might shut down quite possibly," Brown told the Bills media prior to the game. "They're all in a section together from what I've heard, so it'll be a good experience for them. And I think there's a lot of kids going as well. So just a good experience to see that a Lenox, Iowa kid, or a small-town Iowa kid can go down there and do it as well."

It's no shock this is a significant victory for the Bills, who took down the 2019 Super Bowl Champion and 2020 runners-up. It's certainly a step in the right direction for Brown as well.

“I liked some of what I saw,” Bills head coach Sean McDermott said, according to Bills Wire. “I thought (Brown) showed poise. I thought he showed physical and mental toughness. I thought it gave us a huge boost there. “

Starting quarterback Josh Allen was also impressed by Brown’s first start. “I think he handled it like a pro,” Allen said. “He is a guy who takes his effort, his attitude out of the tape, I am very happy that we selected him. He is a special player and I have a lot of faith in him."
