UNI's plan to play two non-conference basketball games during a 13-day gap in its schedule has hit a road block.

Officials announced late Wednesday that UNI and Cornell have mutually agreed to cancel the game scheduled for Thursday night at the McLeod Centeer in Cedar Falls.

UNI Coach Ben Jacobson released a statement that said: "Within the past 36 hours, we have had a couple of issues pop up that had an impact on the number of players we have available. We will monitor things over the next few days with the expectation of taking the court on Monday."

According to a press release, UNI finalized plans to play Cornell and Coe earlier this week. The Panthers scheduled the two Division III opponents from Iowa to prevent a nearly two-week layoff before UNI opens a Missouri Valley Conference series at Southern Illinois on Jan. 30.

The Panthers are 3-10 overall and 2-6 in league play after dropping both games of a series at Loyola over the weekend.

UNI is scheduled to host Coe Monday at 6 PM.
