3 people were sent to the hospital after a home in Le Mars, Iowa, exploded. According to KTIV, investigators believe the explosion was caused by a natural gas buildup in one of the homes and that the gas ignited after a water heater was being lit, which caused an explosion that damaged two homes.

Here's a situation I hope you never find yourself in. Having your home damaged in any way can be financially stressful, scary, and can shock your entire world. Having your home explode, raises the stakes for all of those feelings.

If you ever find yourself in a situation like this, I hope you have neighbors and community members who are willing to try and help in any way they can. As terrible as this situation is for the Dimmick family and Steve Waggoner's family, hopefully, they can take a tiny bit of comfort knowing their community has their backs. KCRG reports there are two legitimate GoFundMe fundraisers set up to help both of these families during these stressful times.

Megan Dimmick is the daughter of Jeff and Laura Dimmick and she told KCRG her parents are thankful they weren't inside the house as that could've had a worse ending but also wanted to let everyone know they are thankful for all of the support they've received.

I mean, we’re in a hard time and anything helps and I wish I could tell them thanks and how much we really appreciate it. But like I said, there’s a lot of them that I don’t know, but we’re a small community and we have each other’s back

At the time of writing the Dimmick GoFundMe has raised $3,995. According to the GoFundMe website, Laura Dimmick did suffer a broken collar bone and will need surgery and is being monitored as she was not getting enough oxygen to her lungs. Jeff Dimmick will receive treatment for severe burns

Steve Waggoner had a GoFundMe set up as well by a close friend. According to this GoFundMe website, he is a father of 3 and has had a rough year. He's lost close family, he's dealt with flooding, and his friend is hoping to raise money to help get him back on his feet. At the time of writing this GoFundMe was at $1,720
